“Raincycle”

The beginning of what inspired “A Journey of Heart”. A self-portrait with a bottled-up heart shattering free by the strike of a lightning bolt created during a time when I was processing my bottled-in feelings. Quite literally using art as an expression of release. This piece illustrates each stage in the rain cycle: thunder, lighting, and rain all corresponding to emotions of anger, sadness, release, and how good it feels to let go and bring to the surface what's been buried down deep. As I created this portrait, I heard the sky mumbling outside and thought how beautiful of a shared moment this was…the sky was ready for some cries and releasing too! Hearts are a theme across my art as well as ties to nature.

Let your emotions run their course, just like a rain cycle.
